FEED THE HOPE OF ORPHANED PETS
Ugly Mutts Dog Rescue sponsored by Canadian Tire and Iams, Home for the Holidays
Ugly Mutts Dog Rescue Associates have always been too busy with the business of saving lives to find much time for dog shows, promotion events or fundraisers. When Ugly Mutts was invited to be featured in the Canadian Tire store in our community however, we realized that was a great opportunity to get out and make ourselves known to the community. As volunteers with full time jobs, families and pets of their own to care for, along with their respective duties with Ugly Mutts, and the fact they were given little notice, the Rescue Associates managed once again to pull together and do a fantastic job.

Rescue Coordinator Stephanie tells a potential adopter the specific needs of “Tia” a lovely young Golden mix
Rescue Associate Kim gives the low down on “Grace” one of the featured Adoptable Pets
Some of our Jr Associates came out to lend a hand – Casandrea with Adoptable Pet “Petey”
And, all the “Mutts” did themselves proud!
It truly was a wonderful opportunity for Ugly Mutters to meet the community and to share in the love and enjoyment of owning a dog. Many people stopped by just to share stories of their own pets. Some people just came out to say “Hi” and finally put a face to the names of Ugly Mutts Associates. Also, and with much appreciation, many showed their support with donations of money for bumper stickers, store bought items for the Rescue and of course with words of encouragement and praise. All in all it was a good weekend for all with several of the dogs finding their new homes.
Sue and her husband, now the proud family of “Ben”, make a joke about adopting their dog from Canadian Tire.
“It was a great turnout and we really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with the people in our community and to let them know what Ugly Mutts Dog Rescue is really all about. As well, it was a good opportunity for people to meet the dogs and get a feel for the kind of pets that are being offered for adoption.” said Ugly Mutts Rescue Director, Karlene. ”We hope it was as much of a success for Canadian Tire and Iams and we look forward to being asked back next year.”
