All smiles from Ugly Mutts Associates with the huge food donation from Nutrience
Ugly Mutts Associates and volunteers were all smiles as they pick up their $5,000 worth of food from the Hagen warehouse in Mississauga. Early this year Nutrience held a promotion on facebook with Ugly Mutts and another rescue splitting $10,000 in dog food once Nutrience’s facebook reached 10,ooo fans. Many of Ugly Mutts fans reached out to family, co-workers and friends to “like” the Nutrience site which raised the numbers on both Nutrience’s and Ugly Mutts facebook page. ”I don’t believe we would have reached the goal so quickly if not for the wonderful participation of our fans.” said Karlene, Rescue Director for Ugly Mutts “We were elated and so appreciative of their efforts and I am always amazed that when the chips are down, the people are always there to help the animals in need.”
Luckily the food did not need to be individually loaded and instead was forklifted right into the van.
“We feel very grateful to Nutrience for their support of Ugly Mutts Dog Rescue and to have the ability to supply our foster dogs with such a good food.” said Stephanie, Rescue Coordinator for Ugly Mutts. Stephanie is pictured here with her dog Sebastian who was adopted in 2010 from Ugly Mutts. When asked about Sebastian, Stephanie told us that he had been very neglected and was super insecure when he came into the rescue but seeing him today he was the picture of health and was all smiles and kisses for everyone.
Frankie, another rescued dog turned up to help with his new mom, Emma one of Ugly Mutts Volunteer Associates.
And still there was more!
“Thank you Nutrience!” said Sara, one of Ugly Mutts Rescue Coordinators as another skid full of food is lifted onto her truck. ”The guys were fantastic in helping us get the food loaded at this end and we are extremely grateful to the volunteers that are waiting to help unload the food at the other end.”
“This is definitely going to help Ugly Mutts rescued dogs for awhile to come and it is an honour to be supplying our dogs with a good Canadian food” said Karlene. ”We will be happy to promote Nutrience food to our adopters and will be sending valuable Nutrience coupons home with every adopted dog.”
All of the pictures were taken by Sara as a memento of the day.
