Dennis is another little black dog that was completely overlooked at the shelter.  He would make a great family pet and is easy going, friendly and playful.  He is approximately 3 – 5 years old and although not very tall, he is a mid sized, solidly built boy.  He would do well with another dog or as the only dog in the home.

Dennis is not demanding at all and does his best to try and please you.  He is not an overly active dog but would still enjoy a good walk each day and an opportunity to play with other dogs.  He would do well as a children’s companion and family pet and is an exceptionally good listener.  He is fairly well behaved in the home and can be trusted alone for a normal working day.

Dennis has waited a long time and is deserving of a family of his own.  He may not be the most handsome of dogs but he makes up for it with a big heart.  He is compact  and a real teddy-bear of a dog.  With some love and caring I am sure we could put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.

Abby is an intelligent, loyal and loving little dog weighing just over 20 lbs.  She loves people and is very eager to please.  She loves her people and likes to be a part of whatever is going on.  She is approximately 3 years old and would do well as a single’s companion or as a family pet.

Abby is more of a people dog and would probably do best as the only do in the home.  She will tolerate other dogs but is much more interested in what her people are doing.  She is very well behaved and very loyal to her people.  Affectionate, loving and very eager to please, she would make an excellent single’s companion.

Abby is a naturally active dog but would be fine in an apartment as long as she got a good daily walk.  With a back yard to run around in, and a walk each day she would be fairly inactive in the home.  She is a pretty girl little girl that wants to do well and who would be totally devoted to her people.

Malard has very unique colouring – cinnamon on chocolate.  He is a very loving little dog weighing just 15 lbs.  Malard is really still a puppy at just under a year old and is so wanting to be loved.  He would bond very strongly with a family and would do well in obedience classes because he is so wanting to please.

Malard’s colouring is amazing from his amber eyes right down to his brown nose.  He is a gentle little dog that would do well with patient and consistent handling.  He is always happy to see you, and loves any attention he can get.  He will always be a slightly built dog but will fill out some once he gets settled into his new home.  With care and love this little dog will make an amazing pet.

Bancroft is a “hunt” community where it is harder to place dogs in suitable homes.   Steve is a gentle, sweet boy who needs a forever home.

This gorgeous fella is athletic and fit — loves a good run and play session, and will make an excellent companion for an active owner that likes to get out and do things with their dog.

Steve, an owner surrender, has good manners around cats, other dogs, and people. He gets along well with most of the dogs he has been around and could be adopted to a home where he would have another well socialized large breed playmate to romp and play with. He is not suited to a home with small dogs since he does not know his own strength. He does show some possessiveness over bones/food with other dogs (but not people) which can be worked on.

Gentle and quiet, he has wonderful house manners — staying off furniture, no chewing, no barking, and fully house trained, using a doggie door to let himself out. He knows basic obedience, and is happy to flop down on his doggie bed and hang out. He has handled all situations he has been exposed him to marvelously. Friendly with people including strangers, and great in crowds. He gets a little too enthusiastic and sometimes jumps up for greetings, but is responding well to correction and hopefully this will be resolved shortly. He is quite a clever guy, eager to please and picks up new commands very quickly… a model student! His leash manners are a work in progress!

Kacie is needing someone to love her.  She is an older girl but still enjoys playing with other dogs and going for leisurely walks around the neighbourhood.  She is a mid sized, loving and loyal pet who would enjoy a quieter home with someone who would enjoy a well behaved, affectionate companion.

Kacie came into our care when her owner was too ill to care for her any longer.  Kacie needed some medical attention which has been taken care of and is now ready to find her new home.  She has one spot on her back that has been shaved, but the hair is slowly growing back and she will soon look her beautiful self.

Kacie is currently being fostered in a home with young children, another dog and cats.  She has shown herself to be a wonderful family pet.  She would do well with a first time dog owner or someone that would like an older, more relaxed companion.  Kacie weighs just over 40 lbs and is aproximately 7 – 9 years old.

Here is what her foster mom had to say:

Kacie is such a fantastic dog!
She will not go on furniture- even when invited to. She really needs a dog bed.
LOVES her food BUT MUST be mixed with wet food or she wont eat at all.
Loves short walks (15 minutes or so) she slows down – we do these walks 4 or 5 times a day.

She LOVES to be patted and can still play like a puppy with my dog.

She has a gentle nature and is happy just to be in the same room with you.
She knows commands of sit, down, come and shake a paw.
She is very interested in what goes on outside the front door and will bark once or twice if someone is walking by (non-aggressive).

She is a little cranky when meeting new dogs on her walks- but you just have to give her a minute to sniff a bit.
She would be great with older kids who aren’t going to grab and grope at her- she just wants a quiet home where she gets love and attention.

She needs gentleness.
No problem with cats- they don’t seem to interest her.
The patch of fur that was shaved is starting to grow in.

Misha is a friendly, affectionate, and responsive young girl that is ready to find her new family.  She would be great with other pets or children.  She is just under a year old and as an adult with be the size of a regular Labrador.  She loves going for walks, playing with other dogs and learning how to be a great companion.

Misha has come a long way with her foster mom and is now ready to find her new home.  She loves playing with Kingston her foster brother, has shown herself to be fine with cats and loves people of all ages.

Misha is a loyal, loving, affectionate and patient dog, making her an excellent family pet.  She is intelligent, good-natured, very willing and eager to please.  She loves to play, and enjoys an opportunity to swim.  She enjoys going for walks, playing with other dogs at the dog park and working one on one with her lessons.

Misha loves human companionship and makes friends easily with anyone.  She learns quickly and really wants to do well for you.  She is still a young dog and has more to learn but she  is well on her way to being a great pet.

Merlin is a chocolate and white Beagle who was pulled directly from a kill room of a shelter where he was slated to be euthanized due to over-crowding.  He is your typical friendly, playful, happy go lucky guy that would do well in a family with children or with another dog to play with.  Merlin is approximately 3 years old and weighs just 22 lbs.  He is happy and healthy and hoping to find a family that will give him a second chance.

Merlin is happy to see anyone and greets you with a smile and a wagging tail.  He is intelligent, sociable, and playful.  He would be excellent with children, and is fine with other pets in the home.  He is very affectionate and a real “people dog”.

Merlin being a Beagle should never be let off leash in an open area or he may just follow his nose into trouble.  He would do best with a fenced backyard to play in, trips to the dog park to play with friends and walks around the neighbourhood to say hello to everyone.

Merlin is your typical Beagle boy and would love to be a part of your family!

Bitsy is not your typical Chihuahua girl as she loves everyone including children.  She truly is a darling little pet who loves being part of the family and getting in on whatever is going on.  She is approximately 4 – 6 years old but is still puppy acting in her playfulness.  She loves the company of other dogs but would also enjoy being the little Princess and getting all the attention for herself.  She is a tiny girl just under 9 lbs.

Bitsy is a wonderful little pet and companion dog.  She would do well in either a house or apartment, with a family or as a single’s companion.  She is fine with other dogs of all sizes and would be fine with other pets in the home.  She is a very healthy and happy girl that just enjoys life and loves to be loved.

Here is what her foster mom had to say:

Bitsy is a loving little dog that greets me at the door with a wagging tail and a smile on her face and can’t wait to get into my arms for a snuggle.  She is very affectionate and loves cuddling with you but if you put her down she doesn’t keep bugging and will go find a toy to play with or something else to amuse herself.  She is very good at night as well and goes to her little bed and sleep through the entire night.  She is fully house trained but doesn’t tell me she needs to go out and instead just waits for me to remember and when I do she shows how happy she is that I figured it out.

Bitsy is just as affectionate with my two boys.  She is also very tolerant of both big and small dogs that I have fostered while she has been here and easily shares her food bowl without any aggression issues.  Although we have tried to train Bitsy in certain things and she is always eager to learn and wanting to engage us, it is just to easy to give in to this little doll and spend more time cuddling with her.

Bitsy is not a demanding dog in any way.  She just wants someone to love her and if you wanted to sit holding her all day she would let you but she is also very good about finding other things to do with no problems.  She is not aggressive in any way, makes friends pretty easily and is just a little sweetheart of a dog.

This little pup is a real character.  He loves people and enjoys other dogs and cats.  He loves to swim in the pool and floating on the pool chair watching his foster mom swim.  An ideal family pet, Bosco is just a tiny dog but he sure manages to get along with the big boys.

Bosco is a very affectionate and friendly little dog.  He loves giving kisses and likes to be in your lap but he doesn’t sit still for long before he is off again checking things out.  He is an adorable little dog that will make you laugh.  He loves getting his picture taken and being the center of attention but he is also fine being left on his own for periods during the day.  He is still a puppy so would be best if someone was home part of the time.

Bosco would be great with children that wanted to play and who liked being outside in the backyard.  He will follow you anywhere and loves going for walks around the neighbourhood.  He is a very intelligent and outgoing pup that would do well in a busy household.   He will need further training because he is a pup but overall he is pretty good in the home.

Although Bosco is a very small dog under 10 lbs he is not what I would consider a lap dog but he does like to cuddle and is very affectionate.  He is an active, fun and playful pup that needs a backyard to run around in, other dogs to play with, and stimulating and fun toys.  He would do very well with children.

Look at this handsome boy!  Charcoal can manage to put a smile on my face no matter what mood I am in.  He is always happy and ready to make friends with everyone.  He has no problem with other dogs and has no idea that anyone wouldn’t like him.  He is about a year old and just a big lover boy!

Charcoal will actually give you a hug when he sees you.  He is very affectionate and totally responsive to whomever is handling him.  He grew up in the shelter and has really never known what it would be like to be in a home so rather than being stressed out by everything he has been through in getting to us, he just seems to think that it is another life adventure.

Charcoal weights just over 63 lbs and is pretty much full grown at this point.  He could do to fill out a little more but otherwise is in excellent health.  He is currently being kenneled and his caretaker says he never dirties in his run and is a sweet tempered, fun and friendly guy.

We would love to see Charcoal find the home he deserves with a family that would enjoy his out going and friendly nature.  He would love some older kids to play with, a backyard to run around in, trips to the lake to swim and meeting new friends at the dog park.  He would do well in obedience classes as he is very responsive and eager to please.  Being an intelligent dog he would pick things up quickly and would bond strongly with his family.

He has a typical Labrador temperament and is an intelligent, friendly, playful and funny pup.  Charcoal is really an awesome dog and will make a wonderful pet and companion with a little training under his belt.

It was an extremely hot day when we were taking these photos but Charcoal remained focused on us doing whatever we asked of him without complaints.
